NEW BOOK ……”TRANSFORMATIONAL DIARIES”

Stories of our collective wisdom and lessons in our journey toward healthy, thin and happy bodies!

.

One thing I’ve noticed through my own blogging and reading the marvelous blogs of others is that while there is so much common ground in our experiences, we each bring different perspectives to it. The weight loss blogging world is such a fantastic source of support, of wisdom, of sharing the things that work and the pitfalls. I love seeing the results of people’s journeys, applauding their successes and encouraging them through the tough times.

.

The purpose of this book is to share the real life experiences of people who have “been there, done that” and in most cases, “still doing it” and are works in progress. To share our stories, our different approaches to this issue of shedding weight, the challenges we’ve faced (or are still facing) and the strategies we used to help overcome them. It’s about building on our common experiences and learning from each other, realising and relishing in our links to each other.

.

This book will draw together our experiences on many levels, looking at what we did before and how we have changed whilst moving to a thinner and healthier body:

  • physical (dealing with what to eat and when, plus things like exercise);
  • mental (how our thinking and our underlying beliefs shape our experiences)
  • emotional (how what we are feeling influences what we eat and do); and
  • spiritual (whether we are doing things that uplift us and bring joy into our lives).

.

I love reading before and after stories of weight loss and want to capture some of that in the form of a book. The difference with this book though is that it is formed through our collective, rather than individual, “before, during and after” experiences. It’s about real people and real experiences. It’s about sharing our knowledge and improving lives.

The book, Transformational Diaries, is to be published in late 2012, with final submission due in July 2012.

If you would like to share your story, what worked for you and the things that you have learnt in this journey to a healthier, thinner and more energetic body, then here’s what I am proposing:

  1. Email your Expression of Interest to share your story to the email address listed below – just say who you are, that you want to be part of the book and your blog address if you have one.
  2. I will email an outline of what the book needs and some ideas for how to get your thoughts flowing. Have a read of this document and see if you are comfortable with it all. You don’t need to have something to say on each category that I list, only on what is relevant to you on your journey.
  3. If you are comfortable with what I am asking for, email me with your brief initial story as it stands to date, together with your permission to use your story in the book, Transformational Diaries. This is important ….. if I don’t receive your permission to use your story, I can’t include it in the book. Please note that I am happy to use an alias for you in the book, but will need to have permissions in your legal name.
  4. Alternatively, you can email me your permission with your blog address and I can read your blog, write something for you that you can check and adjust accordingly.

I am hoping that this process will also help keep us on track. The book is not necessarily our end point – it documents our journey and our lessons. If, at the time of publishing, I / we have only lost 50% of the weight we have to lose, fantastic! Celebrate the result. The book is about the journey.

To participate in this project it will be great to include before, during and after photos – we all love to see the changes in people as they have dropped their weight. I will pixelate the faces if you want to maintain anonymity.

Finally, for those people whose stories are included in the published book, Transformational Diaries, I will send you a copy in appreciation and with gratitude for your contribution to this project. In addition, the books will be provided to you with the books at a cheaper rate, allowing you to give them as gifts or to on-sell them at the retail price.

Inspiration

You may speak your truth, but soothe your words with peace.

Tell your truth as soon as you know it. Yet tell it gently, kindly, and with compassion for the hearer. Someone needs to hear the truth from you … but that person
also needs your deep compassion as you speak it.

Seek to say what needs to be said with softness, and with a wide open heart. Remember, the truth can hurt … but it hurts a lot less if you care how it feels while
saying it.
